Kenneth L. Hall, President/CEO
Kenneth L. Hall has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Buckner since 1994. During his leadership tenure, Buckner has grown into one of the nation’s showcase social service ministries, annually serving more than 100,000 people through an array of diverse programs designed to care for children, families and senior adults.
Only the fifth president in the 127-year history of Buckner, Hall has overseen the expansion of Buckner ministries to include more than $100 million in capital improvements in the past 13 years. He has also led Buckner to increase its endowment to more than $180 million. Today, Buckner lists total assets exceeding $300 million.
Along with the capital growth and improvements, Hall has guided Buckner to expand its ministries beyond the borders of Texas and the United States by launching Buckner’s international programs in 1996. By utilizing Buckner’s expertise as a leader in domestic childcare, Hall worked with governments and church groups to open doors of ministry to orphan children around the globe.
Prior to assuming the leadership of Buckner, he served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Longview, Texas; Crestview Baptist Church, Midland, Texas; Eastwood Baptist Church, Gatesville, Texas; and Riverside Baptist Church, Stephenville, Texas.
A Louisiana native, he earned the Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He also is an Honorary Alumnus of George W. Truett Theological Seminary in Waco.
He is the author of Inside, Outside: The Church in Social Ministry (1997) and Road Maps: Directions for Living (2004).
Active in the Baptist denomination and his local church, he is past president of the 2.5 million member Baptist General Convention of Texas. He has also served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Baptist Standard, the Texas Baptist newsjournal, on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.
He serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees of LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas and as a member of the Board of Trustees for Baylor Specialty Health Centers in Dallas. He also has served as a board member of the Alliance for Children and Families and Children's Medical Center in Dallas.
He and his wife, Linda, have two married children, Kevin and Kayce, and three grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys bird hunting and playing golf.
