Foster care teen looks to become first in her family to go to college

It’s easy to take for granted the role family plays in our lives, especially throughout childhood and adolescence. But Midland High School senior Vzysha Bell knows just how lucky she is to have found a family to support her when she needed it most.

Following the incarceration of both of her parents, Bell was force to fend for herself, eventually ending up in the care of High Sky Children’s Ranch. From there, the local foster care program through Buckner International set out to fit her with a family.

In November 2013, after nearly 10 months of waiting, Arnold and Crystal Ochoa arrived as the answer to Bell’s wishes.
