(BEAUMONT, Texas) — Laura May will serve as the new administrator for Buckner Children and Family Services in Southeast Texas beginning May 1.

“I have been serving with Buckner for 19 years and it has been more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined,” May said. “It is an honor and a blessing to serve Christ and the wonderful team we have here in Beaumont as we continue to help others through our ministry to hurting children and families.”

May will be responsible for overseeing foster care services, Buckner Children’s Village foster care group homes and assessment center, STAR (Services to At-Risk Youth), TRAIL (Transition to Responsible Adult Independent Living), and the FYI Center.

May first served as a caseworker and counselor for Buckner before advancing to unit supervisor and then serving as the director of residential services for 15 years. May graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont with a bachelor’s degree in social work and has been a licensed child care administrator for more than 15 years.

“I cannot imagine a better person for this position than Laura,” said JoAnn Cole, director of campus ministries for Buckner Children and Family Services. “She is a servant leader through and through and I know she will make a big impact in the lives of many people Buckner serves in Southeast Texas.”

May will replace Greg Eubanks who has served as administrator and team leader in Beaumont for the past three years. Eubanks will move to Dallas to serve as the director of service offering development for Buckner.

Buckner has been serving children and families in Beaumont and Southeast Texas since 1970 and is part of a global ministry that seeks to make life better for orphans, at-risk children and families.
