Longview: LeTourneau, Buckner partnership helps improve academic readiness for elementary students

LONGVIEW, Texas - Schoolchildren across the state have spent the past several months prepping for mandated tests, and LeTourneau University entrepreneurship students have devised a way to help them out.

"This is the 'Disco Dash' — it's a trivia game with a touch screen made out of 3D-printed materials," sophomore Calvin Pitman said Friday during a "Shark Tank"-style presentation to Buckner International representatives on a judging panel.

"It can be played as a single player or multiple players, and it cycles through questions that have been used on previous STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) tests."
