The biblical call to become a foster parent

The most commonly quoted Bible verse regarding foster care and adoption is James 1:27: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." It points to the heart of God for vulnerable children as well as his desire for his followers to care for them.

The journey to become a foster or adoptive parent is a spiritual one. Pam Parish, author of Ready or Not: 30 Days of Discovery For Foster & Adoptive Parents, encourages families to prepare themselves for what's ahead -- the trials, the difficulties and the unimaginable joys. Delve deep into James 1 with Pam as she unpacks what the journey to serving vulnerable children may look like for you.
