Following the opening of the new Longview campus, including an expanded Buckner Family Hope Center and new Buckner Family Pathways, the Longview News-Journal praised the ministry's commitment to serve in South Longview.

While some have suggested those who have concerns about South Longview should simply avoid the area, real leaders are doing something about the challenges there.

And their efforts are having major impacts.

After hearing former Buckner CEO and President Ken Hall during the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new campus, the paper reflected on how transformation happens in a city.

With his long personal and professional experience in Longview, Hall well understands the sweep of our city's history. He also understands the fact that troubled areas like South Longview often are improved one lot, one street, one block at a time. And he is absolutely right that Buckner's $6 million investment on High Street, along with others already in place and more in the works, are turning the tide for an area he rightly called "the heart of Longview."
