Buckner International
With just a few months left until summer, Buckner International and Camp Buckner have extended their application deadlines to accept more interns for summer service.
Applications for a one-month internship in one of six countries will be accepted until March 14. International interns have the opportunity to minister to orphans, assist churches on mission trips and lead Vacation Bible School curriculum in Russia, Romania, Latvia, Guatemala, Peru and Ethiopia.
“We are looking for students, 18 years and older, who have a passion for Christian ministry to children,” said Jeremy Copeland, missions coordinator and internship director. “We also really need to find team leaders. These leaders are typically older – grad students or teachers on summer break – and are responsible for the spiritual and financial leadership of the team.”
The costs vary from $2,400 to $3,000 for a month’s time in each country, not including airfare.
“I can honestly say that the month I spent in Guatemala was the best month of my life,” said Alison Grooms, 26, intern leader in Guatemala. “I was able to serve God's children with an amazing group of interns who selflessly gave all they could to the children at the orphanages and homes.”
Camp Buckner reorganized its summer camp ministry to host youth camps for churches and are looking for summer interns to help facilitate camp activities. Interns must be at least 18 years old and have a personal commitment to Christ and serving others.
“This is our first summer to offer internships and we are really excited about everything that comes with it,” said Whitney Denney, Camp Buckner internship coordinator. “Interns will have an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of camping ministry, and most importantly, to grow in their walk with the Lord through discipleship and community.”
Camp Buckner interns will be paid $180 a week and will be certified in lifeguarding, archery, ropes course and CPR.
