Eleventh Shareable Wearables Clothing Drive, a Great Success!

(McAllen, TEXAS) —The eleventh annual Shareable Wearables clothing drive for children was a resounding success. The Rio Grande Valley community cleaned their closets, and shared goodwill with those less fortunate. The new or gently-worn clothing will be distributed to Valley children who would have otherwise have started off the school year in torn, stained, or ill-fitting clothes.

“We believe our success is a direct result of the great support we received from Texas State Bank, and all of our media partners: NewsChannel 5, The Monitor, and the radio stations from ClearChannel Wild 104, KTEX, Hot Kiss and Oldies 105.5. But above all, it’s due to the kind and generous people in the Valley,” said Monica Skrzypinski, Buckner Community Affairs Coordinator for the Rio Grande Valley.

“Not only did we receive a sizeable amount of clothing, we also had several schools and organizations participating,” said Skrzypinski. “The Port Isabel Junior High School Breakfast Club, Los Cuates Middle School Los Fresnos Student Council, Bertha Cavaza Middle School San Benito, After School Program made Shareable Wearables their own project by organizing the drive at their school and decorating the SW boxes.”

In order to contribute to this campaign, Texas State Bank provided drop-off points for clothing and monetary donations in all of their Rio Grande Valley banking centers. "Texas State Bank recognized the value of Shareable Wearables Clothing Drive as an excellent opportunity to help.  Everyone understands the importance of helping our local children start the school year with their clothing needs met." stated Cody Sparks, First Vice President of Marketing for Texas State Bank.  "Judging from the incredibly generous response to this event, everyone readily supported the program."
