Missions Lecture
Thursday, Sept. 21 @ 10 a.m.
Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid
5405 Shoe Drive, Mesquite, TX 75149

Join Buckner Missions on Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid for the second Missions Lecture Series. A panel of world renowned experts in the areas of theology, church history and social work will address poverty and justice in the Bible and the urgent missiological implications for the church. Some of the questions we will look at include: What does the Bible really say about poverty and justice? How did the early Christian respond to poverty and injustice? What is the real meaning of the kingdom of God? Is the church responsible for the poor? How are we, as Christians, called to respond to poverty?

The panel will consist of Dr. Steven Friesen, department chair and professor of biblical studies at UT Austin; Dr. Gaynor Yancey, professor and director of the Center for Family and Community Ministries at the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University; and Dr. Timothy Sandoval, associate professor of Hebrew Bible at Brite Divinity School.
