Buckner International to Host Global Missions Conference By Jenny Pope (DALLAS,Texas) – With more than 129 years of experience in caring for orphans and at-risk children, Buckner International will share its expertise and passion for missions during the Go.Be.Do. Global Missions Conference Sat. April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Park Cities Baptist Church. The inaugural event will be hosted by Buckner President and CEO Kenneth L. Hall, with keynote speaker Albert Reyes, president of Buckner Children and Family Services, and worship leader Susan Gray. The conference will feature international Buckner staff and experienced missionaries from eight countries around the world. Participants can learn more about the needs of orphans in each country and discover opportunities available to transform lives through missions during specialized breakout sessions. “It was time for a meeting like this to take place in Dallas,” Hall said. “The more I listen, the more I’ve become convinced that there is a movement – a hunger – from Christians and subsequently their churches to do more for the hurting, to be more for children, to change the world.” Buckner currently sends more than 3,000 short-term missions volunteers on more than 140 trips a year to Guatemala, Peru, Honduras, Mexico, China, Russia, Romania, Latvia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Thousands more volunteer along the United States/Mexico border. “While our mission is not to plant churches, evangelism and church planting tends to happen as a result of our presence,” Reyes said. “And in places where church planting has preceded Buckner presence, the call for humanitarian aid and social ministry quickly follows.” Registration fee includes lunch and snacks and costs $20 per person, with a maximum of $200 per church.
