Buckner began its operations in Dallas, Texas in 1879 when founder R.C. Buckner established the Buckner Orphans Home to care for children orphaned by poverty and war. He also established the first retirement services when he allowed elderly widows to live in cottages on campus to help care for the children.
Buckner is one of Dallas’ longest operating businesses and now serves children and families through community ministry programs, foster care and adoption services and more. Dallas is also the headquarters for Buckner International’s corporate office, Shoes for Orphan Souls and the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid.
