Twins find direction and purpose at Buckner Family Hope Center
Christopher and Christian are twin brothers from South Dallas who know all too well what it means to be vulnerable, without the promise and hope for a future.
When Christie Young moved Christopher, Christian and their sister into the Wynnewood neighborhood of Dallas, she knew what they were getting into. She knew the struggles of the area. She gained even more intimate knowledge of it when a bullet flew through her daughter’s window and lodged itself into the ceiling.
Christopher and Christian came to the local Buckner Family Hope Center and participated in after-school activities, financial empowerment classes and Vacation Bible School. Because of the support of people like you, these brothers grew into young men determined to go to college, grow in Christ and become independent.
“Buckner has grown me into the person I am right now,” Christopher said. “It’s matured me as a person. It’s helped me grow closer to God, including reading the Bible and praying. That’s a big deal because you can’t do anything without God. He’s always on your side.”
The path they started more than a decade ago took them to the University of Houston, where they will graduate next year. Their future is bright ahead because of people like you.
