Being prepared for the little things
Snakes kill about six people a year (My wife has already killed one snake this year!) while spiders kill about seven people a year. But cows – yes, those sneaky bovine predators – kill 20 times more than sharks do. Instead of that bass string warning for Jaws, imagine a banjo warning for cows!
Well, the biggest dangers in life may not be what you would expect.
"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." – 1 Peter 5:8
What is dangerous for us as believers? We watch out for the devil, but miss the little devils sneaking up. We're often on guard for pride but miss the sneak attack of being smug! "I’ve done so much, I am a good Christian!"
We get on guard against big evils and miss the camel’s nose of ‘apathy.’ Or how about the little devil of, “Someone else will do that.” There may be nothing more dangerous than expecting someone else to do what you're being called to do.
Are you a believer? Then you have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to teach you, convict you, build you up and he will help you serve the Kingdom.
I'm sure you have some wonderful memories. How about building memories that will echo throughout eternity and give us more happiness than we can imagine? Listen to the Holy Spirit, act upon his leadership and you will never regret it.
