Faith Focus: That doesn't make sense

As Christians, there’s a lot we do that doesn’t seem to make much sense to those outside the faith.

We wake up early on Sunday and go to church when we could be sleeping. We give away money we worked hard to make. We commonly use words no one else uses like prayer warriors, spiritual warfare and love offering, just to name a few.

And that’s just the smaller stuff. We open our hearts and homes to children we’ve never met. We take vacation time from our jobs to work even harder serving the vulnerable around the world. When circumstances get tough, somehow there’s still a joy in our lives.

We’re a curious people, no?

You certainly piqued my interest. A number of things were happening in my life when I came to Christ, but one stands out in my mind as I write this: Someone noticed me when it felt like no one remembered I was alive. They lived differently than most everyone I knew, and encouragement oozed from them. This person never shared the gospel with me. But their actions made me look into this thing called Christianity again.

How are you living? Can others see God through you – whether you speak about him or not? Do you make others curious about this God you believe in?

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. – 1 Corinthians 3:18-19
