Faith Focus: Will you go today?

Undoubtedly all of us are familiar with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

There, Jesus gives us, his followers, our marching orders. We know exactly what our goal is. But how are we supposed to accomplish those goals?

Let me suggest this week that the answer is in another verse you likely know well – 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

In order to make disciples, we are to carry ourselves in God’s spirit, which is reflected in faith, hope and love. The words are forward-looking, anticipating what’s to come. They call us to action now and something better in the future.

Today, you are called to make disciples at your workplace, among your friends and those you encounter about your daily activities. Let us go today. Go with faith. Go with hope. Go with love.
