Finding strength in God's presence

A devotion on strength in the Lord

During life's challenges, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Whether it's personal struggles, uncertainties in the world around us or simply the weight of daily responsibilities, we can often find ourselves searching for strength and solace.

Psalm 46 reminds us that our ultimate source of refuge and strength is found in God himself.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." – Psalm 46:1

God is not distant or indifferent to our troubles; he is ever-present. His presence offers us a refuge—a safe place where we can find peace and renewal. When we feel weak or burdened, we can turn to him, knowing he is always ready to strengthen us.
Sometimes, in our hurried lives, we forget to seek this refuge.

We attempt to navigate challenges on our own, relying on our own limited strength. Yet, God invites us to come to him. He offers us his strength, which is more than sufficient for every situation we face.

Imagine a weary traveler finding a cool, refreshing oasis in the desert—a place to rest and regain strength. In the same way, God invites us to come to him as our spiritual oasis. As we spend time in his presence through prayer, worship and meditating on Scripture, we find our souls refreshed and our spirits renewed.

Today, let's take a moment to pause and invite God into our circumstances. Let's surrender our worries and burdens to him, trusting in his promise to be our strength.

As we do so, we will experience firsthand the truth of Psalm 46:1—God is indeed our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
