(AUSTIN, Texas) — A total of 133 people have submitted their deposits to live in the soon-to-be built GreenRidge at Buckner Villas retirement community in Austin. 84 of them met for brunch in Round Rock, Texas on Nov. 12.

“We are virtually building a new campus,” said Dr. Pearl Merritt, president of Buckner Retirement Services. “There are presently five buildings and only one of them will remain. And we are building it to accommodate future expansion if we choose to do that.”

Although the opening date is not set and costs have not been made official, residents will have the flexibility of straight monthly rent or putting down entrance deposits that will lower their monthly rental fee. It is expected to be very affordable, Merritt said.

Rob Petitt, director of sales for the GreenRidge project, said that “without question, residents will get the best value in the city. I think people will be shocked when they look around our campus and see our fee schedule. We will be in a league of our own.”

GreenRidge will offer a continuum of care and amenities such as an indoor swimming pool, fully-equipped exercise room, whirlpool, aerobics, café/bistro, lounge areas, library, arts and craft areas, community room, main and private dining rooms, game room and many others.

“My job is relationship building, to assist you in having a wonderful stay,” said Doyle Antle, executive director of Buckner Villas. “We have the feel of family, and with the expansion, we intend to offer practical hospitality with our new amenities.”

Clark Watts, once a resident of Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas, said that he and his wife had been looking for the right retirement home for years.

“When I found this place and saw the relationship, I knew the history of Buckner and I know that the corporate culture is compatible with what we are interested in.”

Architecture for the GreenRidge project is being handled by CSD Architects, a national firm recognized by a wide range of professional organizations.
