Shonice Reed named director of Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine
Shonice Reed has been named as director of the Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine, where she has served as children’s program supervisor since 2015. Reed fills a vacancy created by Shawna Roy, who was recently named director of the new Buckner Family Hope Center of Houston.
Erin Broussard, senior executive director for Buckner Children and Family Services of Houston, said Reed “brings a wealth of experience in business management, human resources management and ministry leadership” to the position. “It’s rare to find a leader with such a broad range of talent and organizational skills. Shonice fits the needs of this ministry perfectly.”
Roy agreed. “Shonice loves helping others grow and be challenged and desires to always impact lives through her work. She has a strong foundation in Christ and has a very servant-oriented spirit. “
The goal of the Buckner Family Hope Center is to strengthen families so their children can stay where they belong – in a strong, loving home. The ministry provides programs designed to engage, equip and elevate families through family coaching, GED, ESL, computer literacy, job training, an after-school program and summer programs for children. The Family Hope Center recently celebrated 28 years of helping families in the community, first as Aldine YOUTH and as a Buckner ministry since 2012.
Prior to serving at the Family Hope Center, Reed was a long-time HR and benefits specialist for APAC Customer Management, was a customer service agent for Interactive Response Technologies, and owned and directed a child development center.
Reed earned an associate of science degree in child development administration and is currently pursuing a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
