For seven women of Buckner Family Pathways at Dallas, graduation marked a major milestone for their family. Program directors, graduates, supporters and other guests joined a Zoom call last week to celebrate together virtually.
The digital celebration included a time of prayer, a special slideshow featuring each of the graduates and their new degrees and adventures to come, as well as a special word of encouragement from Jeff Murriel, pastor of Waterstone Christian Center.
“We are just so excited about what God is doing,” shared Cynthia Rentie, director of Family Pathways. “When the program first started, it was for these women to get their associate degrees. But now we hear them going for their bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and it’s amazing!”
“These women are so resilient and so strong,” she continued. “They accomplished this within a pandemic, and we are all just so proud of them. Between teaching their kids, their own classes and keeping their GPAs rock solid, they set such an example.”
For many of these women, the Family Pathways program offered them an opportunity to create new goals and set new standards for their family. They each echoed their appreciation for the program during the graduation, as well as their faith for getting them to this exciting milestone in their life.
Murriel celebrated their resiliency and determination to finish their degrees and graduate from the Family Pathways program with his brief message to the attendees.
“Sometimes when you wanted to give up, or others wanted to give up on you – you did what many people failed to do, you persevered. These things set you apart,” Murriel said.
