Dallas Mavericks hand out Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need

Families served by Buckner received a Thanksgiving day feast

Dallas Mavericks players Kristaps Porzingis, Maxi Kleber, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dwight Powell joined former Dallas Mavericks players Charlie Villanueva and Jimmy King and ABA veteran Willie Davis to distribute Thanksgiving meals to families Buckner serves.

The 250 families received a frozen turkey, green beans, whole kernel corn, mashed potatoes, mini marshmallows, stuffing, pumpkin, jellied cranberry, yams, cake mix and frosting provided by Kroger.

The turkey giveaway is part of the Season of Giving - the NBA and Dallas Mavericks' commitment to brighten the holiday season for thousands of children and families.

The weather for the giveaway was perfect - not a cloud in sight with a slight breeze. Families were able to roll down their windows and wave to volunteers and the Mavericks as the Thanksgiving feast was loaded into their cars. Volunteers held signs encouraging cars to honk, creating an upbeat and festive vibe during the event.

Volunteers and the families were laughing, enjoying a little bit of hope to families in need this Thanksgiving.
