Hope was shining last weekend as Texas Rangers player Nomar Mazara partnered with Buckner to collect shoes for vulnerable children.

"Any shoes I had when I was little was going to mean a lot. The goal today is to give back to the kids. Any way you can give back to the kids, it's huge. When I was little I wish I had something like this. It means a lot to them. Hopefully this is not the first and only one I do," Nomar Mazara said.

The shoe drive collected 400 pairs of shoes that will be distributed later this year through Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls® to vulnerable children in the Dominican Republic and Nomar's hometown of Santo Domingo.

“Nomar has a big heart, so we weren’t surprised when he came to us asking for help collecting shoes for children in his hometown in the Dominican Republic,” said Texas Rangers Chief Operating Officer Neil Leibman. “Due to our relationship with Buckner International, we knew they were the perfect ones to help facilitate this.”
