Aging out of foster care: Amy's story

How to find help if you are aging out foster care

Amy Carrier aged out of foster care when she was 18 years old, but she felt she still needed some guidance and assistanced as she transitioned into adulthood. She found Buckner NextStep, where she was able to find the supportive network she needed to thrive.

"NextStep is a good program. It's something that if any kid could come to, they would get help and not repeat the things that's happened throughout their life," Amy said. "I'm grateful for everything they've done for me – all the counseling, all the therapy. Buckner NextStep is a gift because it gives everybody hope."

May is National Foster Care Month. You can make the difference in the life of a child who needs a loving and supportive home.
