Faith Focus: How would you respond?

Certain songs have the ability to affect us instantaneously. I’ve noticed it’s been happening quite a bit lately to people around me. It often happens when they hear the first few notes of a song. Well, not a specific song. More like an entire genre of music. It might even have a visceral effect on you this month.

Of course, it’s Christmas music. When is too early to start listening to it? I know that’s a question we wrestle with in our household, particularly when a radio station sneaks in a Christmas song.

When some situations arise, we have immediate reactions. We respond without thinking. That’s exactly what the West family did recently. When they received a call about a baby in the NICU who needed a family, they responded immediately.

How are you preparing yourself daily to respond quickly to needs God puts before you? The Bible calls us to pray daily and meditate on Scripture to prepare our hearts to respond to God’s call. Then we can live out Philippians 4:6:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
