Kids from the Buckner Family Hope Center at Reed Road in Houston enjoyed an end-of-school field day with a special appearance from Cece Kizer of the Houston Dash, the women’s professional soccer team based in Houston, Texas.

It was the first time many of the children met a professional athlete in person, and they had lots of questions for Cece about what it takes to become a player in the National Women’s Soccer League. The Houston Dash Street Team and mascot Dynamo Diesel were also on hand to add even more fun to the event for the kids.

Sunny skies made for a perfect day of outdoor field activities for the school-age children and marked the beginning of fun summer events at Buckner Houston. Volunteers from Hope City Church helped run the field games for kids and grilled hot dogs for the children to fellowship together and replenish lots of lost energy from playing.

It was a great day celebrating kids and the joy they bring to the lives of others. Giving children time to play and learn is critical to their lifelong development. Thanks to everyone who made field day a success!
