The Christmas season is such a magical time, but even more so if you have little ones to celebrate the holiday with. Soon, children will be on Christmas vacation and ready to celebrate everything the season has to offer.
We’ve got five fun activities you can do with children to get you all in the holiday spirit.
Decorate together. Play some of your favorite Christmas music while you unpack the Christmas boxes and turn your home into a winter wonderland. Help your children hang the garland and place the ornaments on the tree. We love the idea of decking your halls with twinkle lights to help foster your children’s imagination. It’s also the perfect time to tell them about the Christmas traditions you enjoyed as a child.
Watch your favorite Christmas movies. Make some hot chocolate and popcorn and get cozy on the couch with your favorite blanket. Create warm holiday memories with your little ones by sharing your favorite Christmas movie as a child or let your children pick a new film to enjoy together.
Get crafty. Gather your special little ones together and share some laughs as you use your creativity. There are so many cute ideas on Pinterest, but we love this Christmas tree yarn craft because it’s made with items you probably already have in your home. Don’t forget to proudly display your artwork for all your holiday visitors to see.
Bake a sweet treat. As you roll out the cookie dough or frost the cake or cookies, you can create a bond with your children that will last a lifetime. Turn this classic Rice Krispie treat into a festive reindeer your kids will be sure to love.
Spread holiday cheer to others. Find a way to share the Christmas spirit with those in your community. Go caroling at a senior retirement home or volunteer at a local food pantry or homeless shelter. You can also help families in need have a beautiful Christmas with their family by donating toys and food for their holiday feast. Buckner has many opportunities for you and your family to help others. Check out our Volunteer Central to see how you can help a vulnerable family in your community.
