Programs
Foster Group Care at Buckner Children's Village

Buckner Children's Village is home children and adolescents in foster family houses. Since 1970, the Children's Village has provided a loving, Christian home for children with traumatic backgrounds who need a place to find hope and healing. Children attend public schools, participate in many extracurricular activities and are active in the community.

At Buckner, we intentionally provide our children with experiences to encourage generosity and independence. Above all we strive to ensure that each and every child who calls Buckner home will know that they have found a place to belong.

Emergency Shelter Assessment Center
The Emergency Shelter/Assessment Center is a temporary home to children from ages 5-17, offering a sanctuary from previous trauma while creating a full assessment of each child's needs. Many residents transfer from this home to foster care or another residential children's home.

Foster Care and Adoption
Buckner provides the Southeast Texas community with training and resources needed to become a family to a child living in the state's custody or to a child available for adoption in Texas or internationally. For more information on ways you can be a family, call 409-866-0976. Learn more at www.beafamily.org.

Transition Programs
Many former residents or foster children, once removed from the structured environment, often are ill-equipped to handle situations they face in adult life. And without a support system, many find themselves unemployed and homeless.

Buckner supports these children through innovative programming that helps young adults transition into adulthood and living responsible, self-sufficient lives. Some of the programs that help these children include:

• TRAIL (Transitioning to Responsible Adult Independent Living) - TRAIL is for young adults ages 17-21 who are transitioning from Child Protective Services care to independent living. Assertive case management provides support as they work toward self-sufficiency by gaining education, job skills, life management skills and social skills. For more information, call Buckner TRAIL at 409-866-0976. (Funded in part by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services)

• STAR (Services to At-Risk Youth) - STAR provides counseling and support to children and teenagers with a history of juvenile delinquency, runaways, family conflict and more. Services are free of charge and available in Jefferson, Orange and Hardin Counties. For more information, call Buckner STAR at 409-861-0582 or 1-800-929-7828. (Funded in part by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services)

• FYI (Fostering Youth Independence) Center - The Buckner FYI Center provides a one-stop shop for teenagers and young adults aging out of the foster care system. The center provides access to services including tutoring, GED preparation, and aid with technical schools or colleges. In addition, help to find employment, financial assistance, case management, counseling and mentor connections are available.
