Across the country, there are foster parents who open their homes to vulnerable children in need of a safe place to call home through challenging seasons. At Buckner, we are so thankful for the many parents in Texas who have made sacrifices and answered the call to care for these children.
 
To celebrate these families, Buckner Foster Care and Adoption programs in several cities honored them with a night of recognition. Help us celebrate these beautiful parents and families.

Dallas

The annual foster parent appreciation event for Dallas families was hosted at First Baptist Church of McKinney on June 16. Special guest State Representative Candy Noble attended and Lindsay Miller, Buckner director of administration and operations in Dallas, shared an encouraging devotion. 

Parents were honored with awards inspired by the Buckner organizational values: Faith, Integrity, Respect, Service and Teamwork (FIRST).

The Dallas award-winning foster parents included: 

• Faith – Megan and Jason Homan 
• Integrity – Matt and Kristen Allcorn 
• Respect – Stephanie and Buck Baskin 
• Service – Katie and Kyle Madison 
• Teamwork – Brian and Julie Price 
• Foster Parents of the Year – Troy and Bekah Webster 

A note about the Foster Parents of the Year: “The Websters have fostered for more than 2 years with no end in sight and were able to adopt in December,” Buckner foster care team member shared. “They have a spirit in service in everything they do.”

Beaumont

The foster families in Beaumont enjoyed a celebration dinner at Bruno’s Italian Restaurant on May 19. Three families were celebrated and acknowledged for their commitment and sacrifice for 2022-2023. 
 
The families celebrated included: The Rice family, the Holt family and the Brooks family.
 
Buckner staff and volunteers offered child care to provide a special night out for the families. More than 30 door prizes were also given to those in attendance.

Rio Grande Valley

In May, the Buckner Rio Grande Valley foster care program hosted a dinner with music, games, food and prizes for all the foster families. The dinner was a way to honor the families for providing a nurturing environment for children in the foster care system.

“Since it had been two years since we had been able to celebrate our families in person, we wanted to celebrate all of them equally,” shared Erika Suarez, foster care case manager. 

 
More than 50 were in attendance including parents with their foster and adoptive children and their biological children.
