The children, families and seniors we serve in Houston have a face, and they have a name. They have a story. Marissa is a single mom of four girls who grew up surrounded by drugs and alcohol, eventually falling into the same patterns of her family. She fled her home to Houston, living in a homeless shelter while she tried to get her life together. She knew she wanted to get an education but didn't have the means or support to do it. Until she found Buckner.
When you volunteer with Buckner, you will meet families like Marissa's. You will be able to pray with them and for them, long after you've left. They will leave an indelible mark on your soul. Buckner ministry is hands-on, and it's unlike any other.
In Houston, we provide:
Buckner Family Hope Centers
Buckner Family Hope Centers seek to keep families together by providing them with critical services, aid and coaching to keep them strong and decrease the likelihood of abuse, neglect and removal of children.
Our Hope Centers are child-centered, family-focused places where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the Family Hope Center's success is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and a lack of services.
Buckner Family Hope Center at Reed Road
Through the vision of Star of Hope Mission, a historic ministry to Houston’s homeless, Cornerstone Community℠ is a transformational campus for homeless and vulnerable families.
Buckner has partnered with Star of Hope and New Hope Housing Inc. to engage families more deeply by offering a continuum of services intended to support and strengthen vulnerable families and not only provide short-term solutions to homelessness, but offer longer-term answers to prevent it from reoccurring and to lift families from generational poverty.
The Buckner Family Hope Center at Reed Road provides our full complement of services to families who need help and hope.

Buckner Family Pathways
Buckner Family Pathways provides single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while completing their educational or vocational goals and learning the skills needed to become self-sufficient.
Families are provided support through access to affordable housing, financial assistance and case management services, which include referrals to parenting education, budget training, life skills and individual and group counseling.
Buckner also joins with New Hope Housing Inc. on Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community℠ campus to operate a Buckner Family Pathways program within the New Hope Housing at Reed Road property.
It is New Hope Housing’s first supportive housing property serving homeless and at-risk families, and the Family Pathways residential program provides help to single parents by strengthening their families and reducing barriers to self-sufficiency, such as lack of education and life skills.
