Buckner International has promoted Carmen Holmes as its third-ever vice president, chief development officer. In the role, she will oversee efforts to strengthen philanthropic support, expand community relationships, and advance long-term growth and sustainability strategies that further the Buckner mission. The promotion is effective immediately.

Holmes started with Buckner in June 2025 as the vice president of development. In her new position, Holmes will report to Dr. Albert Reyes, CEO of Buckner International, and lead the donor engagement, church engagement, and fundraising teams.

“Carmen is the third chief development officer in the history of Buckner and brings to the position a vision for building long-term sustainability for our organization so we can continue serving vulnerable children, families, and seniors for years to come,” said Reyes.

Her successful career in the fundraising and nonprofit world spans 32 years. Most recently, she served as chief development officer at The Family Place. Her experience includes executive and director roles at national nonprofits including Habitat for Humanity, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as chief development officer at Buckner International and to be part of a ministry that is transforming lives every day,” said Holmes. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team, generous supporters, and community partners to share the Buckner mission and expand opportunities for people to make a lasting impact on the children, families, and seniors we serve.”

Holmes earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Stephens College and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
