Buckner Guatemala announces new executive director
Buckner Guatemala recently announced Victor López will begin serving as executive director effective Aug. 10. López has been with Buckner for more than five years in different capacities, most recently serving as church engagement manager.
López earned a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in theology and counseling. Combined with his education, he is passionate about serving vulnerable children and families with a commitment to excellence. The combination of his experience and personal growth serving in a variety of roles make him the ideal candidate to lead Buckner Guatemala.
“We are excited to welcome Victor as the new executive director for Buckner Guatemala,” said Carlos Colón, regional director of Buckner Latin America. “His leadership skills, talents and alignment with Buckner’s mission, vision and values will further our footprint nationally as we continue to serve children and families in Guatemala.”
About 75% of Guatemala’s population falls below the poverty line, making it difficult to provide for daily needs. Buckner Guatemala offers ongoing ministry in the areas of foster care, preventative health care, child care, residential care and social services.
In 2022, more than 2,500 people in Guatemala received needed support and resources to become more self-sufficient and strengthen their families through the Buckner Family Hope Center® programs, foster care, kinship and foster group homes.
