Buckner opens new Peru Family Hope Center
LIMA, Peru – Buckner International opened the newest Family Hope Center, Villa Hermosa, in Pamplona, an impoverished neighborhood in the nation's capital. It is the second Hope Center in Peru.
Located in a suburb of Lima, the Hope Center will transform lives through in-depth case management and a variety of services that strengthen families and equip them with job skills. Most people in the community live in homes of tin without access to running water. Some do not have access to electricity in their homes.
“The Family Hope Center is shining hope to one of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in this squatter community by empowering families to become all that God intended for them to be by improving their living conditions and their quality of life with sustainable programs that move them toward self-sufficiency,” said Dexton Shores, Buckner regional director of Latin America.
Hope Centers are one of four focus ministries for Buckner. Twenty-six Hope Centers are now changing lives around the world in countries such as Dominican Republic, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico and the United States.
