Christmas parade brings cheer to Buckner families

Buckner International hosted its Annual Christmas Parade to kick off the holiday season Dec. 3 at Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas.
Bundled families gathered along the route to cheer as the Dallas police and fire departments led the parade of more than 100 participants, including Santa Claus, Samuel High School ROTC, cheerleaders, dance teams, marching bands and more.
This year, In-N-Out Burger supported the event and fed more than 250 parade-goers with a hot burger straight off their Texas-sized grill.
“We are so thankful for In-N-Out Burger and all the volunteers and parade participants who helped make this special day possible,” said Lindsey Miller, Buckner ministry engagement coordinator. “This is an event our families look forward to each year as a way to kick off the holiday season. Having In-N-Out there really brought the event to the next level!”
Following the parade, spectators attended a Christmas party in the Buckner Maris Alumni Center, where Buckner children enjoyed photos with Santa, a puppet show, carols and a reading of the Christmas story.
“The holidays can be a particularly difficult time for many of the vulnerable children and families we serve,” Miller said. “We hope the Christmas parade helps bring joy to their lives and replace some of their difficult memories with new and happier ones.”
