CiCi’s Pizza Barefoot Run to Benefit Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls® this Saturday
COPPELL, Texas –The second annual CiCi’s Pizza Barefoot Run, benefiting Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls, will be held at 8 a.m. Oct. 6 at Andy Brown Park East in Coppell, Texas. The 5K and 1-mile fun run is open to children and adults, and shoes are considered “optional,” said Kendra Lovelady, event manager.
“Barefoot running has become a popular trend, but it’s something the kids we serve around the world face every day ,” she said. “They run barefoot because they have to, not by choice. Our goal for the second annual CiCi’s Pizza Barefoot Run is to raise awareness for the need for shoes and have a great time while doing it.”
Prizes and medals will be awarded to the winners who run the race barefoot or with shoes. Special games and activities, including a bounce house, will also be offered for those who want to participate. All proceeds from the race will benefit children who need shoes around the world. Coppell-based CiCi’s Pizza has been the title sponsor of the event since its inception in 2011. CiCi’s is an involved member of every community across the U.S. in which the pizza buffet restaurant does business.
“We participate in this event as a longstanding corporate member of the Coppell community,” said CiCi’s Chief Marketing Officer Nancy Hampton. “This is a fun, active way to support a very worthy cause, and we applaud Shoes for Orphan Souls’ mission of providing shoes to children here at home and internationally.”
