City of Houston declares ‘Buckner International Day’
The City Council of the City of Houston and Mayor Sylvester Turner (center, gray suit) have officially proclaimed May 9 to be “Buckner International Day.”
The mayor presented Buckner President/CEO Dr. Albert L. Reyes (center, black suit) with a city proclamation honoring our 138-year-old organization. The proclamation recognized Buckner for its contributions to the city that include programs such as Parkway Place, Buckner Hospice, Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine, Buckner Family Pathways, and Buckner Foster Care.
Parkway Place executive director Sunny Chatagnier attended the presentation, along with other Buckner team members from across the Houston ministries.
"Our Parkway team is truly honored to be part of this Buckner family as we work together to strengthen families and serve senior adults in Houston," Chatangier said. "The Houston community is incredibly generous, and it's exciting to think about what God can do through Buckner in this city."
Parkway Place kickstarted Buckner's ministry in Houston in 1955, when the senior living community first opened as Buckner Baptist Haven.
