Faith Focus: Freeze frame
Last week, Buckner leaders honored the first graduating classes of the Buckner Family Hope Center at Bachman Lake in Dallas. The ceremony is the culmination of weeks and months of hard work for each of the individuals who completed the courses.
Joy beamed across their faces. In many cases, family members came to witness their accomplishment. Children watched as their respective mothers in caps and gowns received a certificate.
Cameras were seemingly everywhere. People were taking group shots of the class. They were taking smaller shots of close friends. Even a selfie or two was taken.
There’s little doubt many of these photos were shared on social media and in person with those the graduates cared about. They’re proud of what has taken place in their lives. They sense God changing them from the inside. Several of them testified to God transforming their lives through the class. They want to tell others about that.
May we be just as excited to tell others what is going on in our lives. We should want to tell others what God is doing, how he is transforming us. When we accomplish something great, we should be honored to give the glory to God. He gives us strength to accomplish all things, after all.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. –Ephesians 2:8-10
Deeper reflection:
- If you could share a photo of how God is working in your life, what would it look like?
- When is the last time you gave God the credit for something that happened in your life?
Next step:
- Look for the good things that happen in your life this week. Give credit to God for all he's doing.
