Friday photo: Buckner sends aid to flood victims in Peru
Buckner Peru distributed food, mattresses, water filters, clothes and other supplies to over 700 families affected by the worst floods in Peru in the past 20 years. In March, nearly 80 people died and over 200,000 homes were destroyed, leaving more than 630,000 people displaced. Buckner International responded to the need and shipped more than 500,000 meals and 400 water filters for local staff to distribute.
Along with the supplies, Buckner staff responded with encouragement and compassion, offering hope to families who had lost everything.
"When you see homes, vehicles and animals that walk being swept away by the raging waters, our passion for those who are being affected motivates us to action,” said Henry Jackson, senior vice president of Buckner Children and Family Services. “To help, serve and be the hands and feet of Christ is a natural response. Responding in this way is just one way to demonstrate the love and compassion Buckner has been providing for 138 years.”
