Mavericks Guard Jason Terry Delivers Turkeys to Buckner Families
DALLAS – Mavericks guard Jason Terry and Kroger delivered 200 Thanksgiving turkeys and holiday sides to families in need at Buckner Children’s Home on Sunday, Nov. 21. The families also received a $25 gift card to Kroger.
“I’m excited to be able to give back to the Dallas community,” said Terry. “To be able to help out a family that may not have been able to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal means a lot to me. I appreciate Kroger for coming on board and helping make this happen.”
Cars lined the parking lot Sunday afternoon, as families eagerly waited to meet the Mavericks standout. Terry invited youth basketball players from the Lady Jets and Takeoff basketball teams to help him distribute the turkeys. He also gave each family an autographed player’s card.
“Our families are so thankful to receive this meal today,” said Jackie Belt, director of humanitarian aid for Buckner. “They wouldn’t get a Thanksgiving meal otherwise. We help about 150 – 200 families a day at our Crisis Relief Center. This is a big help.”
