Parkway Place breaks ground July 1 for $2.5 million wellness center
(HOUSTON, Texas) — Parkway Place, a Buckner senior living community in West Houston broke ground July 1 in preparation for construction of a $2.5-million wellness center to be located on its campus.
The groundbreaking came 55 years to day that Buckner opened the Buckner Haven retirement community in Houston on July 1, 1954.
The Buckner Wellness Center at Parkway Place will provide state-of-the-art facilities which include a swimming pool, fitness areas, a bistro as well as a patio for programs for residents.
Pearl Merritt, President of Buckner Retirement Services Inc., told the crowd of abourt 100 the center will be an “integral part of the continuum of care we offer at Parkway Place.”
Kenneth L. Hall, President and CEO of Buckner International, remarked that the center “will be a place where elders’ health will be celebrated.”
Parkway Place also hosted a health fair and tours of the community.
A part of the statewide ministry of Buckner Retirement Services, Parkway Place offers a complete continuum of care for their residents, ensuring them when they come here, they are home.
