Texas goes blue in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month

Buckner staff across the state attend Go Blue events to raise awareness

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. In 2021, 1,809 children died in the United States from child abuse and neglect. In Texas, 199 children died from child abuse and neglect. This week, many child agencies, including Buckner International, wore blue in honor and memory of child abuse victims and attended events to help raise awareness.

The stigma surrounding child abuse and lack of understanding the many forms it can take has contributed to families being unprepared or unable to identify the signs of abuse.

Knowing the forms of child abuse and neglect can better prepare you to recognize abuse.

Help end child abuse: Be observant and don’t be afraid to have hard conversations.
