Buckner Today Fall 2025
December 17, 2025

Our theme is around ‘Community’. Specifically, the community created by the orphans previously from the Cam Ranh Christian Orphanage in Vietnam and who became residents of the Buckner Children’s Home.
- The orphans formed community around their shared experience of escaping Vietnam, and the hope Buckner Children’s Home gave them 50 years ago. On the anniversary of those events, a group of the orphans returned to Vietnam to give back to people and institutions there, some of the love and hope they have received.
- A group of siblings from the Cam Ranh orphans remained together at Buckner Children’s Home, making it their forever home until they could each be independent. Learn what they gained from that decision.
- An adoption story that overcame time and distance, a U.S. veteran and Vietnamese orphan shared an unbreakable bond.
- Revisit the pilgrimage of the orphans escaping war-torn Vietnam to Buckner Children’s Home. The story first published in Buckner Today in 2010.
Also in the issue:
- Meet a San Antonio mother who opened her heart and mind to receiving help and it was life changing for her and her family.
- In a tribute to 25 years of compassion, Shawn Spurrier provides a first-hand account of the commitment from South Main Baptist Church in Houston, to protect children’s soles while strengthening their families’ souls.
