Help a child in need. Give a pair of shoes. Your support is needed to provide shoes and life-changing care for vulnerable children throughout the world.

Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls®, the largest humanitarian aid project of Buckner International, serves children all over the world and across the street too.

When you donate new shoes through Buckner, they will be received by one of the world’s most vulnerable children. Buckner has distributed 5 million pairs of new shoes and socks to children in over 80 countries. Your gift impacts communities just like yours too as 20% of our shoes stay in the U.S.

WHAT WE DO

Why shoes, though?

icon rainbow

A new pair of shoes puts children on a path to health.

In many developing countries, children have to walk barefoot in muddy, rocky terrain for clean water or to attend school. With bare feet, parasites and diseases like hookworm, jiggers and tetanus can enter the body through cuts in the feet. These illnesses can stunt a child's growth and development physically, but also cause lifelong mental damage.

Shoes can protect against disease and infection.

A new pair of shoes removes the barrier to education.

Most schools require children to wear shoes to attend but for many poverty-stricken families, shoes are a luxury they can't afford. Studies show higher attendance in school increases children's chances of obtaining an education - and rising out of poverty.

A new pair of shoes shines hope.

Shoes demonstrate worth and God's love to vulnerable children. Typically, children in orphanages share everything - it's not common for them to have a single possession of their own. New shoes provide hope for these children and the truth they are loved and cared for.

A new pair of shoes creates opportunity.

Shoes connect families to holistic Buckner ministries. For many families, receiving shoes can be the first step to connect with critical services at the Buckner Family Hope Center® in their community. Family Hope Center staff support families through coaching, education and more along their transformational journey.

FAQ

What shoe sizes do you need?

We always need larger sizes for both boys and girls. When in doubt, we recommend buying Boys 1-5 and Girls 4-5.

Do you accept used shoes?

We ask that all shoes donated to the program be in new, unworn condition. If someone in your drive doesn’t understand and gives you a used pair of shoes in good condition, we will give them out in our domestic aid centers or with partner ministries. However, only new shoes will be given to the children in our programs.

Where do the shoes go?

We have delivered shoes through Buckner and partner ministries to over 80 countries. The shoes are primarily distributed through Buckner programs both in the U.S. and around the world. Approximately 20% of the shoes we collect remain in the U.S.

Do you prefer monetary or in-kind donations?

We love both, of course! If you’ve raised money and are debating whether to go shoe shopping, we do have relationships with manufacturers and can order shoes directly from wholesalers, which not only gives us a good price but also allows us to meet the specific size and gender needs of the program. We also understand the fun of picking out that specific pair of shoes to bless a child – either way, we’re so grateful for your donation.

Do you need boy or girl shoes?

We take both, but we always receive more girls’ shoes and thus need more boy shoe donations.
