The people we serve in Amarillo have a face, and they have a name. Jessica is a single mom of two who suffered unthinkable abuse and is now trying to build a better life for her children. John has just aged out of foster care and doesn't have any family or a support system nearby. Trevor and Emily are siblings whose parents can no longer care for them and need a kind, loving family to take them in.

We offer a wide variety of services to children, families and single parents in Amarillo with the goal of building the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life and fulfill their God-given potential.

When you volunteer with Buckner in Amarillo, you will meet Jessicas, Johns, Trevors and Emilys. You will hear their stories and minister to them. You will pray for them by name even when you're not with them, and they will leave an indelible mark on your soul. The Buckner ministry is unlike any other.

In Amarillo, we provide:

Foster care and adoption

Buckner provides the training and resources needed to become a family to a child for a season through foster care or a forever family through domestic foster care or adoption. Children in these programs are most often referred through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to experiencing abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also respond to mothers experiencing an unplanned pregnancy with counseling and support. Call 806-373-1474 for more information about how you can change a child's life.

Buckner Family Pathways®

We provide single-parent families the opportunity to live in a safe, secure environment while completing their educational or vocational goals and learning the skills they need to be self-sufficient. Families are provided support through access to affordable housing, financial assistance, counseling, spiritual growth and case management services.

Foster Youth Aging Out Services

Our support programs are provided for current and former youth in state foster care. The goal of the aging out program is to provide training, support and guidance to youth graduating from foster care that will enhance their ability to transition into independent living. The Buckner Bruce Ford Transition Center is a one-stop shop for Amarillo area young adults who are aging out of foster care. The center provides access to services including tutoring, GED preparation and help with higher education. The center also helps clients find jobs, financial assistance, case management, counseling and mentor connections.
