Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo was recently recognized for its outstanding dedication to workplace safety. The community received the Lone Star Safety Award from the Texas Department of Insurance’s Division of Workers Compensation (DWC).

According to Mary Smith, director of human resources for Baptist Retirement, the DWC’s Lone Star Safety Program recognizes employers with exceptional safety and health management systems. It’s the highest recognition a company can receive in the state of Texas for maintaining a safe working environment.

“We are pleased to receive such a distinguished award,” Smith said. “Often, a building within a campus or organization will win the award, but in our case the entire community – which consists of 250 employees – was presented with the Lone Star Safety Award. This is such a rarity, and we applaud our team for going above and beyond to make sure our community is a safe place for themselves, residents and visitors.”
