Trust in the storm
Trust is a word easily said but difficult to do. I have read these Bible verses many times, but when things get difficult, they are hard to put into practice. I can remember countless times when I have been stressed and my anxiety and worry has kept me from moving forward because I can’t seem to trust God.
I am reminded of the story in Matthew 8:23-27 when the disciples and Jesus are in a boat and a storm comes. They let fear invade them and they think they will drown, but Jesus is peacefully sleeping. The disciples wake him up scared they will drown, and he rebukes the winds and the waves ceasing the storm.
If only we understood how easy it is to trust that God would do that for us when storms come our way. If we only trusted in his goodness and protection over our lives, we would live a life less worried and stressed by life’s storms. We would have more joy and freedom in our choices because we knew they were part of his will. We would let him guide us entirely.
Today as you go on in your journey, I encourage you to trust that God knows what he is doing in your life. Trust him with all your heart and lean into his perfect will. He won’t let storms overwhelm you and will calm any storm that comes your way.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
