Faith Focus: A week of thanks
Thursday may be Thanksgiving, but there's no need to wait until then to be thankful. Truth be told, Buckner has a lot to be thankful for in November.
For starters, it's National Adoption Month. Each week, children are embracing forever families through inspirational ceremonies across Texas. Tears flow as parents and children hug, each knowing they will remain together.
On Friday, Buckner dedicated the Linda and Ken Hall Buckner Family Hope Center and the Mac and Tom Stone Buckner Family Pathways in Longview. The expanded Hope Center and new Family Pathways will strengthen families throughout the area.
That night, about 800 people came together for a Thanksgiving meal and graduation ceremony for fathers through the Hope Center in Peñitas. The crowd was a tapestry of families whose lives have been transformed by Buckner.
Some blessings are less public, but no less important. A father getting a job. A mom learning to speak English so she can help her children with their homework. An individual sacrificially giving to Buckner to make ministry possible. We are thankful for all God does through Buckner.
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” -Psalm 9:1
Deeper reflection:
- What are you thankful for?
