Family Pathways moms and children spend Spring Break at Camp Buckner
Six families with 22 children in the Family Pathways program from Conroe and Houston traveled together on a chartered bus to the Hill Country to spent Spring Break at Camp Buckner. During that week, they were able to make friends with other families in Family Pathways programs in other locations, go fishing, zip-lining, hiking, kayaking and participate in archery. For many of these families, these were new experiences for them.
In addition to activities, families were able to participate in crafts, Bible classes and some much needed rest.
"This year at camp my family and I really enjoyed ourselves," said one family. "Besides the great food and activities, my kids' favorite experience was the Bible lessons they had with the volunteers and staff. Their enthusiasm and curiosity to learn more about God has caused us to have Bible study on our own."
Another mother said being at camp allowed her to connect to other single mothers, encouraging and empowering her.
"What really brought it home for me was to see how God is moving within the Buckner family," she said. "Camp Buckner is truly God's country. To experience his love at camp is a beautiful feeling. Being a single parent is not easy but when surrounded by other single parents and listening to how they are overcoming obstacles, empowered me."
