Parnell named executive director for Buckner in Midland
Jordan Parnell has been named the new executive director for Buckner Children and Family Services in Midland, charged with leading the organization’s ministries for vulnerable children and families in the Permian Basin.
Parnell will oversee the operations of Buckner Family Place and Buckner Foster Care and Adoption Services, as well as church and community collaboration in Midland and El Paso, Texas. Parnell joined the Buckner team Dec. 8.
“Jordan’s servant leadership and desire to better equip families is what motivates his daily decisions,” said Kathy McGee, executive director of Buckner Children and Family Services in Lubbock. “We are thankful to have Jordan onboard as his heart for the vulnerable coupled with his vision and skillset will add depth to our programs as they continue to expand.”
Parnell comes to the role of executive director after serving as a mitigation specialist for the Regional Public Defender’s office for Capital Cases. While earning a master’s degree, Parnell acquired management and case work experience working alongside the Children’s Home of Lubbock, Marywood Children and Family Services in Austin, Texas, and the Bridge of Lubbock.
“I am thrilled to begin this new adventure with Buckner in the Permian Basin,” Parnell said. “Alongside the remarkable Midland staff, I will work tirelessly to advance the mission and vision of Buckner. I cannot wait to witness how God will continue to work through the Buckner Midland programs to bring hope to vulnerable individuals within the community and across the world.”
Parnell earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas in Austin followed by a master’s degree in leadership from Lubbock Christian University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lubbock Christian University. Parnell is a Licensed Master Social Worker and is certified by the state of Texas.
Parnell and his wife, Annie, have one daughter, Eisley. The Parnells attend Stonegate Church in Midland.
