Young professionals raise $8,000 for school supplies
Young Professionals in Houston raised over $8,000 in donations last week to give school supplies and school uniforms to children involved in the Buckner Family Hope Center at Aldine.
The group of business professionals age 25-40 recruited businesses and made personal donations to make the transition back to school easier on the children in the Hope Center in north Houston. Corporate sponsors included Revelry on Richmond, Spencer Ogden, Purgit, and Amegy Bank.
“August is a difficult month for the vulnerable families we serve,” said Buckner Houston Development Officer Adam McKinney. “Many of them already are struggling financially to meet needs and then need to buy school supplies for several of their children. I’m grateful to Mike Moore, Rebecca James and the Young Professionals Board for stepping up and easing the burden on our families. Our families are blessed because of the network’s hard work.”
The Young Professionals in Houston has developed in the last year, empowering up and coming leaders to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families. They are particularly committed to helping at the Buckner Hope Center at Aldine, where they regularly volunteer in addition to their fundraising efforts.
