The Buckner Family Hope Center™ is a child-centered, family-focused place where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The 26 Family Hope Center locations in Texas and six countries strengthen families by engaging, equipping and elevating each family member. 

At the children’s program at the Buckner Family Hope Center at Wynnewood in South Dallas community volunteers and staff equip children with valuable life skills, while also having a lot of fun. 

During a recent program, several children were learning how to assemble healthy, attractive charcuterie boards, while at the same time learning about good nutrition. Others chose to build birdhouses in a woodshed class. Many of the girls changed clothes and headed to the dance room for their first ballet lesson. 

"Programs like these teach these children to thrive," said Cheryl Williams, program director for the Family Hope Center at Wynnewood. "Often their parents can’t afford opportunities like these, so we have collaborators and volunteers come in and teach classes that help these kids later in life.” 

Offering innovative, fun, educational programs that empower and transform children “is a calling for us,” Williams said. “Because we understand every day matters each day our doors are open. When you are called to serve people, you do it in a way that pleases God and transforms families.”
