DALLAS – A Shoes for Orphan Souls mission trip to Guatemala is in danger of being cancelled if more people don’t sign up within the next two weeks, said director of missions support Susan Williams.
“We can take as many people that want to go, but we have to have five more at least,” she said.
Volunteers will visit Guatemala City and the surrounding areas from March 12-19 helping to deliver new shoes and socks and building relationships with children at government orphanages and Buckner ministry sites.
“In Guatemala you will use the gift of a new pair of shoes to show the tangible love of Jesus to these children,” said Chris Cato, Buckner missions coordinator. “It is truly amazing to be a part of God’s plan, and to experience the power of the Holy Spirit as these children realize that they matter to God and are loved.”
Elena Garcia went to Guatemala in September 2010 on a Shoes for Orphan Souls trip. “It was eye opening and heart opening. It not only got me out of my comfort zone, but put a stronger stir in my heart to serve wherever God leads!”
The land cost is $1450, which includes meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, interpreters, water and sightseeing. Airfare is between $600 and 1,000.
